How deep will the stump be ground?
The depth should be agreed for the intended use and equipment access. Ask for the estimate to state the target rather than assuming every stump receives the same depth.
What happens to the wood chips?
Grinding creates a mixture of wood and soil. The scope should say whether it will be left, spread, piled or hauled and whether final soil is included.
Are all roots removed?
No. Standard grinding is different from full root excavation. Surface roots or a larger area can be discussed when they affect the owner's plan.
Can I plant another tree in the same spot?
The remaining roots, grindings, soil and available planting space can affect that decision. Share the intended planting plan during the estimate.
